Q-visa for participants in cultural exchange programs
The Q visa falls into the category of so-called non-immigrant visas and is aimed at participants in cultural exchange programs. In contrast to the J visa, the Q visa is for exchange programs that are not administered by the US Department of State, but by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
The applicant for a Q-1 visa may enter the U.S. to pursue cultural education opportunities.
On the other hand, the Q2 visa (Walsh Program Visa/Peace Process Cultural & Training Program) applies specifically to persons from the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland who are entering the USA for work and study purposes.
One of the requirements for the granting of a Q-1 visa is proof of sponsorship by an organization or a sponsor in the USA. The application process is then initiated by the sponsor.
We will be happy to provide you with more detailed information about the documents and forms to be submitted for the Q visa during an individual consultation. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
