E-visa for investors and entrepreneurs
The e-visa for investors and in the area of trade is divided into subcategories:
- E1 visa (trade)
- E2 visa (investment)
The E1 visa (“trade visa”) is suitable for people who want to set up a trading company that trades between the USA and their home country. The prerequisite is that at least 50% of the trade conducted is between the USA and the home country. In addition, the volume of business also plays a role in the granting of the visa. The chances of obtaining an E1 visa are higher if the business volume is larger.
The home country must have concluded a corresponding trade and shipping agreement with the USA. This is the case for countries such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The E-2 visa (“investor visa”) depends on the ratio between the planned investment and the project volume. The lower the amount of external capital still to be raised and the lower the risk of the investment project failing, the higher the chances of a visa being granted in individual cases. An E2 visa can be granted for a period of 2-5 years.
As with the E1 visa, the home country must have concluded a corresponding trade agreement with the USA. The planned investment must also be made in an existing company. The investor must enter the USA for the purpose of the investment.
