Greencard extension, renewal
The physical green card is valid for a period of 10 years and gives the holder “permanent resident” status. Upon request, the holder must always be able to show a valid green card, especially when entering and leaving the USA.
As soon as the current green card expires, is lost or contains errors or personal data changes, the green card must be renewed or replaced. The extension or renewal is always possible if no criminal offense has been committed that entitles the applicant to deportation, there are no tax debts and the applicant has not been abroad for more than 12 months at a time.
As a rule, the applicant must submit the I-9 form to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) 6 months before the expiry date.
We will be happy to advise you if you have any questions about renewing or extending a green card and assist you with the application process.
